Casona Cantabra

The casona stands on a cobbled lane in Santillana del Mar, its facade of warm stone and its doorway framed by a coat of arms. The village is small and quiet, with stone houses, a collegiate church and meadows beyond the last street. The garden behind the house is walled, with a lawn, an apple tree and a stone table under a vine.

Inside, the house keeps its original structure: a wide stone stair, deep window reveals and ceilings of dark beams. The living room has a large fireplace and two long sofas; the dining room seats ten under a pair of iron lamps. The kitchen is modern behind its stone walls, with a door to the garden. Four bedrooms and three bathrooms are on the upper floors, and one has a window over the meadows.
