Casa Patio Córdoba

The house is set on a narrow lane in the Judería, a few minutes from the Mezquita. Its door opens directly from the street into a courtyard with an arcade on two sides, a well and pots of jasmine and geraniums. The walls are lime-washed and the floor is laid in small river stones in a pattern of black and white. The courtyard is the centre of the house, and every room looks onto it.

The rooms are arranged around the patio, with thick walls that hold the cool of the night. The salon has a sofa in faded linen, a low table and a shelf of ceramics; the kitchen is at the far end, with a door to the patio. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms are on the ground floor, and a narrow stair leads to a roof terrace with a view of the bell tower.
