Casa das Pedras

The house is built of local granite, with a heavy slate roof and window surrounds cut from single blocks of stone. It sits at the end of a short street below the old town, a few minutes from the cathedral, with a small garden behind a low wall. The stone is grey and slightly damp, and moss grows along the base; the rain in Galicia keeps the garden green through the year.

Inside, the walls are thick and the rooms are quiet. The living room has a stone fireplace, a wool rug and a pair of deep chairs; the dining room holds a long oak table under a low beam. The kitchen is at the back, with a door to the garden. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms are upstairs, under the slope of the roof. The old town is close, and the market is a ten-minute walk.
