Ático Salamanca

The building is of Villamayor stone, golden and soft, on a street that runs toward the Plaza Mayor. The apartment is at the top, under the roof, and its windows sit close to the carved cornice of the facade. From the landing, a narrow stair leads up; the lift stops one floor below. The plaza, the university and the cathedrals are all within a short walk, and the market is close by.

The attic is compact and quiet, with sloping ceilings and exposed beams painted white. A window seat runs under the main window, with a cushion and a reading lamp, and looks over the rooftops of the old town. The living room holds a small sofa and a table for two; the kitchen is along one wall. One bedroom and one bathroom make it a base for a couple, with a second bed on a mezzanine.
